For 2021, the new Lexus GX460 gains with minor upgrades. The 2021 GX460 gains an all-new Premium Plus trim that fits between the Premium and the Luxury models. It also comes standard with a Mark Levinson premium audio system that produces an excellent sound quality. Other standard features include an infotainment system that has Amazon Alexa compatibility and power-operated third-row seat. The Premium and Premium Plus models come with heated steering that is beautifully crafted with wood and leather.
Performance and Fuel Economy
The new 2021 Lexus GX460 is available with only one powertrain. This is a powerful 4.6-liter V-8 engine paired with a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive to deliver 310 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque. The 2021 GX460 is equipped with Lexus' Kinetic Dynamic Suspension to give it unmatched off-road capability. This new SUV covers 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds, falling behind its peers. The GX460 comes with a maximum towing capacity of 6,500 pounds and a ground clearance of 8.1 inches.
The Lexus GX460 performs poorly with it comes to fuel economy. The EPA rates it at just 15/19 mpg city/highway.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Technology
The 2021 Lexus GX460 has not been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but it comes standard with Lexus Safety System+. This system features forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, and blind-spot monitoring as standard.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Like most Lexus, the GX460 is equipped with state-of-the-art infotainment and connectivity features. The base model comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth connection for hands-free phone calls, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Luxury model is equipped with a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system that delivers excellent quality sound. Other available features include dual rear-seat screens and in-built navigation.
Interior, Safety, and Comfort
The interior is furnished with wood and leather materials that give GX460 a luxurious and comfortable cabin. The cabin is spacious, with seats designed and arranged to give the passengers good seating support. The cabin is fitted noise cancellation feature to make it quiet. The GX460 offers 11.6 cubic feet of cargo volume when the third-row seats are up and 46.7 cubic feet when the third-row seats are folded flat and 64.7 cubic feet when the second-row seats are folded.
Available Trims
The GX460 is available in four different configurations; the Lexus GX460, GX460 Premium, GX460 Premium Plus, and the GX460 Luxury. The base model rolls on 18-inch wheels, automatic LED headlights, daytime running lights, and illuminated running boards.
The Premium gains ventilated front seats, three-zone climate control, parking headlights, and heated front row seats.
The range-topping Luxury trim gains 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive variable suspension, heated steering, leather upholstery, and illuminated sill plates.
